William Archibald Snyder died on Monday, October 12th, at Parkhouse Providence Pointe, Royersford, PA after complications from various health problems, at the age of 80. Mr. Snyder was born on May 19, 1929 in Lancaster, PA. He was the son of the late William A. Snyder Sr. and Marguerite (Graf) Snyder. Bill was preceded in death by his wife Alice (Anderson) Snyder in 1995 after forty years of marriage. Bill was, likewise, preceded in death by his second wife, Doris (Pennypacker) Snyder.

Surviving are two daughters Ann E. Mogel of Royersford, Pa. and Mary Snyder Brandshaug, wife of Terje Brandshaug of Plymouth, Minnesota. Bill was predeceased by a brother Gordon Snyder and sisters Winnifred Demora, and Evelyn Tangert; and is survived by a sister, Betts Schaller of Newark, Delaware. Bill is also survived by three grandchildren, Daniel Mogel, Rebecca Mogel, and Katie Mogel Cifalli as well as three great grandchildren, Jessica Mogel, daughter of Rebecca Mogel and Matthew and Ryan Mogel, sons of Jennifer and Daniel Mogel.

Bill Snyder, also known as 'Duke' by his friends, graduated from McCaskey High School in Lancaster, Pa. and Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA. In his youth Bill was offered numerous opportunities to play professional football and professional baseball as well as several college scholarships for his athletic abilities in track and wrestling. Bill played for a semiprofessional team called the Presidents of Lancaster, PA. He met Alice Anderson at a YMCA dance in Lancaster, PA.. Bill and Alice lived at 220 Benner Road in Royersford, Pa. in a house built in 1840 and shared their joy of antiques by collecting and decorating their home with family heirlooms and antiques. Bill served as president of a local antique club on various occasions. Bill and Alice also enjoyed card clubs and pinochle clubs together as well as dancing the jitterbug. Bill enjoyed camping, travel, and trips to Ocean City, New Jersey.

Bill was employed by Sunshine Company, Luken Steel in Coatesville, PA working as a shipbuilder on the Chester waterfront. He later worked for the Phoenixville Steel Company as a blacksmith. Bill was also involved with the Steel Workers Union to assist workers with benefits and to improve working conditions in the industry. Bill returned to Ursinus College to receive an Associate's Degree while working at the Phoenixville Steel Company where he eventually, retired. The family wishes to express their thanks for the care and attention provided by friends Dick and Theresa Bush Theresa, by "Seasons Hospice", and by the staff of Parkhouse.

Friends are welcome to attend a memorial service on Friday, at 2 PM at St. James United Church of Christ, 321 S. Limerick Road in Limerick, Pa. Memorials are preferred to be designated for youth programs at St. James United Church of Christ of Limerick, or the youth programs of Royersford United Methodist Church, 380 Church Street, Royersford, Pa. where Bill was a member.
