William D. Sweeney, age 74, husband of Carole A. (Ziegler) Sweeney, of Royersford, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 in his residence surrounded by his family. Born on October 8, 1946 in Media, he was a son of the late Mary (Fahey) and Walter Sweeney.

Bill had a passion for cars and sales and combined those two in his career in auto sales. After retirement he was known as "The Ambassador" at Patriot Chevrolet in Limerick. He loved talking shop, attending auto auctions and was incredible at training those new to the industry. He was all about numbers, loved making sales work for customers and had a way of asking questions to get the answers he was seeking.

Bill served two tours in the United States Marine Corps Infantry during the Vietnam War, until his honorable discharge as Sergeant. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 25 and was heavily involved with the proposed Vietnam Memorial near First Avenue in Royersford. Bill struck up a conversation with any person he saw wearing a "Veteran" hat - always asking about their service. He served as point person for other veterans helping to ensure they received the veteran's benefits they deserved.

Bill loved watching football, working out at the gym and as an avid Dale Earnhardt fan, loved racecars. He equally loved dogs; at one time showing Tibetan Mastiffs and owning a team of Siberian Huskey Sled Dogs.

Ever the gentleman, Bill was very generous to others and treated everyone with respect. His eyes had a mischievous sparkle, and he had a debonair sense of style and was always ready to raise a glass to celebrate. His motto was, "I never had a bad day."

In addition to his loving wife, Bill is survived by his children: Jennifer L. (Kara) Paziora - Benner, of Boyertown, Corina L. Benner, of Philadelphia, Anne (fiance of Josh Mathias) Benfield, of Boyertown and Brent (Sandy) Benner, of Alburtis; grandchildren: Laney Lee Benfield, Rylee Benner and Wyatt Benner; brother: Jerry (Michele) Sweeney of Landenburg, PA, and several nieces and nephews.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. A Celebration of Bill's Life will be planned for a time when family and friends can gather together safely. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill's name to the Montgomery County SPCA, 19 E. Ridge Pike, PO Box 222, Conshohocken, PA 19428-0222.
