Obituary

William Jasper Vinson Sr., affectionately known as "Buddy," transitioned to glory on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at age 81. Buddy was the son of both the late Reverend James M. Vinson and Lousie E. Taylor-Vinson. He was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina on July 11, 1942, and was the youngest of 3 children. Reverend Vinson led a small African Methodist Episcopal church in Rocky Mount, NC, where Buddy sang in his father's church choir as a youth and developed a unique love and talent for music.

Buddy was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Rocky Mount, NC. He joined the United States Army and honorably served his country. Buddy began his career at Fasco Industries in Fayetteville, NC. In 1966, he moved to Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, and worked as a sheet operator for Container Corporation in Oaks, PA. To channel his love and passion for cars, Buddy worked as an auto detailer at Biagas Pontiac dealership in Phoenixville. Later, Buddy opened his own car detailing business, Silver Fox Detailing, in Phoenixville, PA.

Buddy is survived by five children: William Jr. (Rosalind), Lisa Vinson-Young (Kirby), Darryl, Pamela, and Angela Delaware (James); 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Patricia McAlister (Waverly). He shared his love for family with his former wife and friend, Virginia Vinson. His memories will also be cherished by a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Buddy was preceded in death by, and will be reunited with Reverend William Vinson (father); Louise Taylor-Vinson (mother); Sheena Vinson (granddaughter); Taylor Morgan Hamilton (great-granddaughter); and James Vinson (brother).

Buddy lived an uncomplicated life. He loved to sing, laugh, and had an unquenchable passion for cars, particularly American-made models. Buddy meticulously worked on his antique car over several years. He also had a passion for animals and never went anywhere without his dogs, Precious (deceased) and Peanut.
