Michael R. Lemert, M.D., age 86, beloved husband of Dr. Jan Sharp-Lemert and predeceased by his first wife, Carol (Irwin) Lemert, of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026 in the Phoenixville Hospital.

Born on April 25, 1940 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. Lemert was the son of the late Charles C. and Helen (Radojits) Lemert.

Dr. Lemert graduated from Western Hills High School in Cincinnati in 1958. An accomplished student-athlete, he was a member of the football, track, and swimming teams, graduating 16th in a class of 660 students.

He completed his undergraduate studies in 1962 at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he was the President of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, was selected as one of twelve students from a class of more than 1,200 for induction into the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society, and served on the Men's Disciplinary Board. He was accepted into medical school following his Junior year.

Dr. Lemert graduated cum laude from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1966, ranking third in a class of 120 students. He was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Landacre Honor Research Medical Society. He completed his internship and residency at the Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York, from 1966 to 1968.

Dr. Lemert honorably served in the United States Army as a First Division Brigade Surgeon with the "Big Red One," stationed in Fort Riley, Kansas and in Korea. Achieving the rank of Major, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

Dr. Lemert completed his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania from 1970 to 1974. During that time, he served as the Vice President of Medical Staff in 1973, President of the Blockley Obstetrical Society from 1972 to 1974, and President of the Junior Fellows of the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists.

Dr. Lemert dedicated his life to medicine and to the care of women and families through the Phoenixville community. Over the course of his career, he delivered more than 10,000 babies into the world, touching the lives of generations of families. The majority of his medical career was spent with Valley Forge OB/GYN, from 1974 to 2012, where he served as President from 1986 to 2006. He also served as President of the Phoenixville Hospital Medical Staff in 1984, and as an Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Pennsylvania from 1995 to 2005.

A man of integrity and kindness, Dr. Lemert was outgoing, warm, and genuinely caring toward those around him. His professional accomplishments were abundant, yet how he treated others is the legacy that remains for those that knew him. He set an example of grace and humanity, having a positive influence on the lives he touched.

In recent years, following his retirement, Dr. Lemert cherished his time with his wife and family. He enjoyed golfing, travelling, and was an avid reader. He also had a deep appreciation for the arts and music, and was a patron of The Philadelphia Orchestra from 1974. He loved cooking and especially delighted in hosting Thanksgiving each year, bringing extended family together for meals he spent months planning.

In addition to his wife, Dr. Lemert is survived by his son Mark, Mark's wife Nancy, and their two children; his son Andrew; his stepdaughter Erin, her husband David and daughter; his stepson Ian, his wife Jeanie, and their two sons; and one brother, Charles, and his wife Geri.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, September 18, 2026, to remember and honor Dr. Lemert as follows:

● 10:00-11:00 AM: Relatives and friends will be received at Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Inc., 610 Main Street, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.

● 11:00 AM: A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Tommy Thompson, will take place following visitation.

● Following the service: Burial will take place at St. Peter's in the Great Valley Churchyard, Malvern, Pennsylvania.
